For painting, use any kind of quality model paints (petrol based, or acrylic) apply with the smallest brush you have. Be careful as the wooden bits can easily break, if not handled gently. best to pick them up with tweezers, and do not break out from the main sheet, instead, gently cut them out with a sharp wallpaper-knife.
