For painting, use any kind of quality model paints (petrol based, or acrylic). Apply it with the smallest brush you have. Be careful as the wooden pieces can easily break, if not handled gently. It is best to pick them up with tweezers, and do not break out from the main sheet, but gently cut them out with a sharp wallpaper-knife.
